Track Of The Day – Echo Ladies – Nothing Ever Lasts

Echo Ladies – Nothing Ever Lasts

As the regular visitor(s) here will be aware, we are suckers for “the beautiful noise” ( a far more apt descriptor than the oft misused and misleading “shoegaze” tag we feel)  – that intoxicating combination of driving explosive layered guitars, often with spiralling otherworldly vocals and soaring melody. wherein beneath the noise and distortion and the rush there often resides a perfect pop song. And there are few who have done it better of late than Swedish newcomers Echo Ladies. The lead track ‘Nothing Ever Lasts’ from their forthcoming EP is dripping with beauty, it truly is an urgent gleaming life-affirming noise-pop gem.  And if you too feel somewhat seduced by this beautiful noise than wait until you hear the entire EP which is simply glorious. It was initially released by Hybris in their native Scandinavia last year, but will be reissued for the first time on vinyl and digital via everybody’s favourite secular temple for aural salvation Sonic Cathedral Records on March 23.

Echo Ladies are Matilda Bogren, Mattis Andersson and Joar Andersén who after being in various other bands decided they worked far better together. And In 2014, after looking for “a name that represented our sound”, they became Echo Ladies, partly inspired by the name of the drum machine from another of their favourite bands, Echo & The Bunnymen.
