Swoon Fun Police
‘Fun Police’ manages to live up to its title, energetic, spiky, brutal, relentless and you can imagine it’s a hell of a lot of fun to perform live. Indeed the accompanying video for this latest release by Brighton based electronic alt-rock collective Swoon would suggest that’s very much the case. The band who comprise of Alice, Ferg, Chris and Adam (who was once one-half of Curxes) take no prisoners on ‘Fun Police’ with an aggressive tribal beat, hypnotic propulsive electronic flourishes and a towering, explosive vocal from singer Alice.
The song is apparently the oldest in Swoon’s repertoire and is about “freeing yourself from the shackles of an oppressive environment or relationship. In this case, it’s both. Written after the demise of one of the band member’s previous groups, ‘Fun Police’ is about getting things off your chest and starting afresh from a more positive place.
‘Fun Police’ is from the EP of the same name, due 30/05/2018 via One Inch Badge Records;
