Our stylish chum Paloma Faith is getting involved in Launching People an exciting new mentorship programme that seeks to find and develop the best of British talent. Its aim is to invite creative people with a passion for their craft to apply for a unique opportunity to team up with Britain’s biggest stars alongside Samsung’s innovative technology, to take part in a documentary series that could launch their career.
Paloma, whose third album A Perfect Contradiction is set to drop on 10th Match 2014 says, “I’m really looking for something that we’ve not seen in a British artist before. What’s important to me is that the person has something innovative to offer, something that defies genre. I’m looking for outsiders. I love and relate to outsiders. The thought of finding someone like that excites me.”
But the search for innovative artists is not just confined to the world of music, joining Paloma on the ‘Launching People’ initiative are leading lights from the world of film, food, and photography in the shape of award-winning actor and producer Idris Elba (the Wire, Mandela, Luther) pop-up chef and Sunday Times cook Gizzi Erskine, and renown portrait and fashion photographer Rankin.
The mentors, together with Samsung will be on the lookout for people with extraordinary potential and original ideas. The chosen candidates will then work with one of the four inspirational mentors to collaborate on a unique project with their progress being documented in a television series to air later this year.
So, if you have a great idea and think you have what it takes to impress the talented panel of mentors, then upload a two-minute video pitching your project via http://www.launchingpeople.co.uk between now and Thursday 6th March 2014.
