Spring is here and with just over two weeks to go until the first festival of the year Sound City announces the final acts for what is set to be an extraordinary three days of music in Liverpool.  The festival has previously confirmed some of the most innovative and musically adventurous artists from around the globe for its annual event and these additions underline their commitment to showcase everything that is important in music right now.
Sound City is proud to host a show from former songwriter and guitarist in The Coral, Bill Ryder Jones who has just released his début album proper ‘A Bad Wind Blows In My Heart’ to much acclaim.  Warmly melodic, majestically textured and bravely intimate, it is the most fully-realised and deeply personal collection of songs yet from a songwriter and musician who has been quietly but seriously staking claim as one of his generation’s most gifted for over a decade.  This hometown show will be a much treasured Sound City moment.

23 year old Willy Moon is undoubtedly the most stylish man in rock ‘n’ roll and the irresistible tracks of his pop-swing album ‘Here’s Willy Moon’ have won him many admirers and the patronage of Jack White.  Mancunian, hedonistic, adventurers Swiss Lips blend pop hooks and electro to perfection, often dispensing with verses to get straight to killer choruses, exemplified on their dance floor anthems ‘Danz’ and ‘You Got The Power’.  The Ruen Brothers have seemingly come from nowhere to be the band everyone in the music industry is talking about right now.  The siblings from Scunthorpe sound like they haven’t been exposed to any music post 1966 yet still manage to sound fresh and exciting.  File alongside The Strypes and catch them at Sound City before this band go stratospheric.
Brighton band Dark Horses are fronted by Swedish singer Lisa Elle, her mellifluous tone a counterpoint to the corrupted Krautrock drone of her band mates.  They perform tracks from their Richard Fearless produced debut album ‘Black Music’.

The sweet, feisty, folk-pop of 18 year old Scot, Nina Nesbitt has won her fans such as Ed Sheeran and Example who have both personally asked her to play alongside them whilst another young act to perform is Stevie Neale who showcases her self-produced, cutting-edge electronic/RnB tinged tracks.
The bass heavy dissonance of No Ceremony/// carries an implication of doom but manages to do so with an electronic harmony while German band WALL show why they have been described as ‘A v2 rocket filled with pink flowers’ and  ‘A cotton candy thunderstorm’.  The electronic synth-pop of the elusive Glass Animals, the timeless, indie rock of local lads Owls* and the blistering, upbeat, guitar-led, power pop of fellow Liverpool band Sugarmen is sure to enthral festival goers.

Also announced are a host of emerging acts as Sound City continues its commitment to proving a platform for the best new bands and artist giving them a chance to perform the UK’s most important industry showcase where many acts have been discovered and signed by record labels, publishers and agents both in the UK and internationally.

Also confirmed is the addition of the new venue East Village Arts Club which has just had a £1.5 million make over and is an exciting addition to the Liverpool music scene

This year’s line-up includes some of the most innovative names in contemporary music including recent number 1 album act Bastille, one of the UK’s most ferocious rock bands, Enter Shikari, Manchester’s band of the moment, Everything Everything, the psychedelic garage rock of Thee Oh Sees and the futuristic indie pop of fellow American Darwin Deez.
Pioneering electronic artists include Mount Kimbie, Darkstar and Oneohtrix Point Never whilst hotly tipped performances come from the likes of AlunaGeorge, King Krule, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Drenge, Pins, The 1975 and Melody’s Echo Chamber.
On each of the three nights of Sound City there will be a very special show at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral and confirmed to headline are Noah and the Whale, Dexys and The Walkmen.
