“Nobody” is the latest single to be taken from Katherine Paul AKA Black Belt Eagle Scout’s forthcoming album The Land, The Water, The Sky, (out February 10th via Saddle Creek.)
As with her previous release “My Blood Runs Through This Land,”” Nobody” is lyrically intimate yet melodically soaring as Paul reflects on the strength and joy upon returning to her roots. She proves herself to be a songwriter of empathy and insight , with “Nobody” taking it’s inpsiration from the solidarity and finding strength in community. It’s a song of hope about representation as Paul explains “When I was growing up, I didn’t have very many Native role models to look to on TV or the radio. It was within my own community that I found inspiring role models through our elders and our community leaders. With Native representation in music and television slowly growing, I often ask myself where I stand within representation in music and how I want to be seen. This song is about the relationship I have with my own representation in music.”
