Blondshell, the project of Sabrina Teitelbaum, has collaborated with Bully’s Alicia Bognanno on a sublime new single titled “Docket.”
The track, described by Teitelbaum as “,a song about splitting off from parts of yourself in order to adapt to new environments” was a natural fit for a collaboration. “I always imagined Bully’s voice on this song,” Teitelbaum says, citing her admiration for Bognanno’s work “I’m a huge fan of hers and when I was touring last summer, I couldn’t stop listening to her album. Honestly, when we were sitting in the studio and I heard her voice coming through I was just kind of shocked and in awe of her. I’m really happy she said yes to making the song with me.” The feeling was mutual, as Bognanno shared, “I’m a huge fan of Sabrina; I think she is incredible, and I was over the moon that she asked me to be a part of her song. It makes me really happy seeing so many musicians in our indie world supporting and admiring one another.”
This marks Blondshell’s first release of 2024, following a critically acclaimed 2023 that included her self-titled debut album (My fave of 2023). “Docket” delves into the complexities of self-discovery amidst life’s constant churn. Teitelbaum’s lyrics grapple with introspection, navigating the anxieties and uncertainties of a shifting personal landscape. It also showcases her ability to craft soaring anthemic choruses, with driving guitars and a propulsive rhythm section creating a sense of urgency and emotional turmoil.
