Caroline Polachek continues to subvert expectations of what pop can be, not allowing herself to be defined by limitations imposed by tastemakers regarding genre ( as she did with Chairlift). It adds fuel to the assertion that genre is dead, it’s done, its OVER … and she again provides ample proof of her absolute musical mastery and her boundary-pushing approach to creating jaw-droppingly brilliant innovative pop music with her latest release the beautiful “Blood and Butter.” Nobody in the pop arena is producing music quite like Polachek at the moment – hell, “Blood And Butter” even has bagpipes on it ( courtesy of BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award-winning piper Brighde Chaimbeul.)
It’s from her forthcoming album “Desire, I Want To Turn Into You” which is the follow-up to her critically acclaimed experimental pop masterpiece “Pang.”
Next month she sets out on a massive tour
