After seemingly going dark, Brighton’s Dark Horses awaken from their slumber to ride again with their first new music since the 2017 single “XIII”. “Hyper Green” is a stunning return, a glittering magisterial psych track, replete with soaring guitar washes and Lisa Elle’s hypnotic vocals. A kind of modern-day Velvets and Nico on steroids.
There is also news of their pandemic-delayed third album While We Were Sleeping which was recorded with Bob Earland (Radiophonic Workshop, Kate Tempest) and is due for release on March 17, 2023, with two limited edition coloured vinyl pressings by Little Cloud Records.
Regarding the album the band promise “Lyrically, the album reflects the challenging circumstances in which it was conceived, treading the razor’s edge between nihilism and collectivism, anxiety and serenity, suspicion and trust. But the thread running through it is a the sense that we’re all sharing this short act we call life, so the least we can do is show each other empathy, respect and – hell, who cares what they say – love.”
Their welcome return proves that “the “Lightning” is still very much within them
