Debby Friday has a number of noteworthy and fascinating releases under her belt now, but it seems like 2023 maybe the year she draws together her influences into a choesive whole.
Her new single “So Hard To Tell” is her most engaging yet and marks a sonic switch with the pounding electronic beats and the imperious hard hitting delivery of her earlier works replaced by disorientating synths juxtaposted with a rather gorgeous plaintative pop song which demonstrates confidence and vulnerability in equal measure.
Friday was born in Nigeria, and raised in Montreal. After moving to Vancour she Friday released her first EP, Bitchpunk, in 2018 and then in August of 2019, she released her second EP, Death Drive. Shee just signed to Sub Pop Records who know a good thing when they hear it and her full length debut album ,Good Luck is set to be release on March 24th.
