After making their mark with their thrilling debut, single ‘Services’ Nottingham’s Divorce have returned with their new single “Pretty.” It’s a track which again traverses genres and lyrically feels somewhat darker than their debut single.
But what the actual heck is the song all about? Is it some sort of dark twisted version of “The Winner Takes It All ?” Well, probably not and the accompanying video doesn’t really shed any light on things, although who hasn’t woken up unwashed and slightly dazed besides a river after a particularly heavy night? Felix from the band managed to tear himself away from feasting on mushy peas to reveal the following –
“The two characters in this song are holding onto each other despite scrutiny and humiliation. It’s a portrait of two tortured people set inside a makeshift ballad about preserving one pure thing in an insane world. This is the biggest love story since ‘Bee Movie’ (2007, Dreamworks).”
