Palehound, headed by El Kempner, release their latest single titled “Independence Day” from their forthcoming album “Eye On The Bat.” As always, it’s a lyrically astute and melodically rich composition with Kempner’s vocals conveying vulnerability and, as the title suggests, a sense of release as she reflects on what might have been. It is probably one of the most uplifting breakup songs you’re likely to hear!
Kempner explains, “The end of a relationship that lasted throughout my twenties brought me face-to-face with a daunting forked road. In the aftermath of our breakup, I found myself dwelling on what my life would have been like and who I would have become if we had chosen differently, or if circumstances or tragedy had made the choice for us.”
