Edinburgh’s Swim School release their first new music since becomig a three peice following the depature of bassist Matt Mitchell. ‘Kill You’, which is also their first release for LAB Records is a chiming peice of swoonsome alt pop repelte with shoegazey flourishes and a killer chorus. Only issue is at the moment if you aint a fan of Spotify or Apple music you cant listen to it yet.
The trio of Alice Johnson (vocals/guitar), Lewis Bunting (bass) and Billy McMahon (drums) recorded their new single with Iain Berryman (Wolf Alice, Florence and the Machine, Beabadoobee) and Johnson explains that “Kill You” isnt in fact about revenge but “is about being in love and wanting to spend the rest of your life with someone,” “It’s about the confidence you feel when you are in a good relationship and you feel comfortable enough to show your true self. I didn’t want it to be your stereotypical love song, which is why I chose the title ‘Kill You’, it’s funny feeling vulnerable whilst writing a song about vulnerability.”
