Zipper Club are the new musical project of Mason James (ex- Cerebral Ballzy) and Washington via NYC via L.A. based artist Lissie Trullie ( who we tipped back in 2010). Their latest single ‘Breath’, released ahead of their debut album is perhaps poppier than many may have expected given Mason’s punk background. He’s previously stated that basically he became bored with the artistic limitations of punk and wanted to write music that wasn’t genre specific, to return to the sort of music that had inspired him when he was young. And to happily embrace and explore the art of the pop hook! And that’s exactly what they do on Breath, a tune with a background of driving spacey 80’s synth action allied to chiming guitars and James and Trullie harmonising to pop perfection. If you’re a fan of this sound then we’d urge you to check out last years release ‘Small Town’ which is probably our favourite tune by the band to date.
