Dark electronica that you can dance like an absolute bastard to whilst working on your existential angst? That’s exactly what you get from Automatic Writing an electronic pop noir duo comprising of brothers Neave and Jamie Merrick. They demonstrate just what can be achieved when you harness the power of analogue synths, a laptop and combine it with no small amount of talent. Epic wall of synth action and a stentorian vocal that whilst sinister, brooding and commanding never over-eggs the drama (unlike say Editors front man Tom Smith’s incongruous ‘voice of doom’ shtick.) Their début single (a double A side) ‘Falling/Continuous‘ is released on Nov 5th and below you’ll find a free download of ‘Continuous‘, good eh?
