Here’s yet more proof that Bleach Lab are the real thing. Their first release since their acclaimed debut EP A Calm Sense of Surrounding, “Real Thing” is a heartfelt beautiful shimmering evocative new track that is reminiscent of the brilliance displayed by The Sundays circa Reading Writing and Arithmetic, a comparative touchstone that initially confused the band as they’d never experienced the bittersweet joy of The Sundays before then. On “Real Thing” its vocalist Jenna Kyle’s warm emotive vocals combined with the gentle chiming cascading guitars that really hit the sweet spot on a song that addresses being open to love again. As she explains: “Real thing is about wanting to find a more meaningful and lasting connection with someone. I had been processing a lot of issues over the last couple of years to do with previous relationships and personal development, and I had finally reached a place where I felt I was in the right state of mind to be open to looking for something new.
“It is a lot about finding a healthy relationship that is beneficial for those involved. Knocking down the walls you built and putting trust in someone else, for the first time in a long time.”
Having sadly missed out on performing at Latitude last weekend due to the ghastly “Johnson variant” the band have announced an extensive list of tour dates.
