White Stripes, The Raveonettes, The Kills, Honeyblood, Saint Agnes, Slow Club, Deep Valley et all have found it’s very much a case of ‘two’s company – three’s a crowd.’ Doubtless, it also saves on accommodation and travel costs when touring. You can add new London two-piece Dolls to that list. Lurching brooding riffs and the throaty impassioned blues tinge howl of front woman Jade Ellins certainly grabs your attention and their debut single ‘ Killing Time’ is a compelling introduction to the musical world of Dolls. And like the aforementioned bands the obvious limitations of being a two-piece doesn’t appear to unduly impact on power of the bands overall sound. It’s a sweaty sleazy leather clad sashaying beast of a tune and hopefully we’ll hear much more from this guitar and drum duo during 2015.
