Track Of The Day – Holy Now – Wake Up

‘Wake Up’ is a sublime and elegantly sprawling debut from Gothenburg’s Holy Now . It highlights Julia Olander’s yearning, fluttering vocal which at times seems to reside somewhere between Maja Miller of Makthaverskan’s soaring emoting and the sugar spun laments of Alvvays’ Molly Rankin. Given the wistful, evocative nature of ‘Wake Up,’ it’s not really a surprise to learn that the band have described it as “about wanting someone so much that everything gets messed up,it’s about leaving, returning and letting go.”

It’s released on August 19th via Beech Coma backed by B-side ‘Please Love Me’. The single is the fourth instalment of a bi-monthly subscription series from the label, part-funded by Arts Council England, that has so far seen releases from Bruising, Lou E and Posture.
