Track Of The Day – Jennifer Left – “Black Dog”

Originally from Newcastle but now based in Brighton, Jennifer Left first came to our attention through her unique interpretation of New Order’s ‘Temptation,’ which was a thing of shimmering, melancholy beauty. We were delighted to find that her own material was just as engaging. Her single “Black Dog” is a glorious jazz/folk noir fusion, with nods to old time swing and an infectious upbeat melody. Blessed with a gentle sonorous soulful voice there’s something soothing and consoling about her songs and also something utterly timeless about them. In fact we feel a bit like we ‘ve been seduced by the Cadbury’s Caramel bunny – dreamy and content, yup, Jennifer’s Left us utterly enchanted. ;)

Ok so we know it’s called “Track Of The Day” but you can’t get enough of a good thing and as we are so enraptured by Ms Left’s songs, sod it, here’s that New Order cover too ;)
