When we featured Lusts back in October last year there was precious little information available, all we knew was that they were brothers, they were from Leicester, and they wrote music that conjured up a young Ian McCulloch colliding with The House Of Love. There still seems to be no social media presence of any note but at least we now know that the brothers in question are Andy and James Stone and they’ve been signed to the recently re-launched 1965 Records.
The band’s first tune to appear on the net, ‘Sometimes’ was a chiming lo-fi melodic tour de force, which certainly piqued our interest and gave rise to no small amount of excitement here at VP towers. And they’ve surpassed our expectations with their majestic and magnificent debut single ‘Temptation.’ It’s awash with chiming reverb, surging synths and an imposing vocal and proves Lusts have the songs that should see their reputation grow at a greater rate than Eric Pickles waistline. Lusts are a genuinely exciting prospect and we’re certainly looking forward to catching them live when they tour with our chums John and Beck Aka Coves in March.
Lusts support Coves on their UK March tour on the following dates:
4th The Louisiana Bristol
5th Sunflower Lounge Birmingham
6th Nation of Shopkeepers Bristol
8th Nice ‘N’ Sleazy Glasgow
9th The Castle Manchester
10th The Bodega Nottingham
11th The Hope Brighton
12th Corsica Studios London
Ah bollocks to the “Track Of the Day” format , these lads are so good let’s have a few more from Lusts
