Track Of The Day – Rachel Sermanni – Travelled.
Scottish singer-songwriter Rachel Sermanni‘s new single, the darkly poetic ‘Travelled’ arrives ahead of her forthcoming EP Swallow Me. It was written when Sermanni was pregnant preparing to welcome a new life and say goodbye to her old life. There have been the obvious comparisons to Laura Marling over the years, which aren’t without merit, but Sermanni has that added Scottish grit that runs throughout her work, which can be poetic, spiritual , but its always based on a reality, rather than a pastoral idyll.
Speaking about the track, she said: “I was staying with a beautiful family in Portland when I wrote Travelled. This is definitely a depiction of the dark night of the soul situation I was having at that moment in coming to terms with my choices.”
