Birmingham quartet Swim Deep follow up the fabulous ‘King City‘ with the even more  accomplished sounding ‘Honey’ which is released on Chess Club records on November 5th.  After previously memorably singing, “fuck romance I wanna pretend that Jenny Lee Lindberg is my girlfriend” in their paean to Warpaint’s not unattractive bass player, Swim Deep certainly have a way with memorable lyrics that lodge in your head and refuse to leave.  This time they mix up a fantastic keyboard riff that conjures up The Associates with a loping bass line, a passionate uplifting vocal delivery and a sky scrapingly fantastic chorus to produce the perfect end of summer tune.  When Swim Deep sing” Don’t just dream in your sleep it’s just lazy” you genuinely start to believe your witnessing the genesis of a very special new band indeed.
