Track Of The Day – Temple Songs – ‘Point Of Origin’

We probably should have featured Temple Songs way before now, given that our Amazing Radio chum Shell Zenner has been singing their praises since about oooh 2011?

And so let’s remedy that situation tout de suite, in the shape of their latest  single ‘Point Of Origin.’ It’s  possibly our favourite track so far from the Manchester four piece fronted by prolific singer songwriter Jolan Lewis, whose fingers seem to be in more pies than Eric Pickles. It mixes classic lo fi indie disco vibes, with an almost ramshackle scuzzy garage psyche sensibility all drizzled with infectious west coast melodies.

Such is the abundant creativity of the aforementioned Mr Lewis that if you’re not 100% au fait with the Manchester music scene you could well of caught him live without even knowing it.  As happened to us last year unaware that it was he, when he stepped out on stage at the Ruby Lounge with one of his many musical projects The Pink Teens. This chap certainly knows how to write a tune. You can order the limited edition disc here, replete with artwork deemed too offensive for those delicate little flowers over at  i-tunes and has been subsequently banned!

And as there’s no video for this track yet here’s Temple Songs début single ‘Passed Caring’, which always kinda reminded us of The Buzzcocks meets The Beatles.
